In honor of the first day of the Jewish new year, we will not have school on Monday, September 26th, 2022!
In thinking about this special day, I am going to learn more about how it is celebrated! I find New Year holidays to be the ones I am most interested in as there are so many fascinating ways the movement to a new year is celebrated! There are seasonal elements to some and arbitrary dates to others. They all involve ritual even if the rituals are really particular to a family or small group of people.
As such, I encourage us all to think about the movement of the year – whether that is the Jewish year for you, the school year, the movement from fall to winter, or the movement of spring to summer – this time of year, we are all moving towards something. This week-end, let’s all take the opportunity to consider this.
