Write The World

Write The World is a global community for young writers. I highly encourage you to explore this site with your child. It is generally for older students (6th grade and up), but there are things on there that can be adapted for every age child.

I recently read “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow” by Gabrielle Zevin. The main characters are gamers and create their own games. One of the things that makes them so fabulous as game creators is their ability to weave a great story. Storytelling is really “a thing” (and as an oral storyteller, I am thrilled that this is something the world is recognizing as a good skill to have). Being able to craft a story is important in today’s world!

One of the features of Write The World is its monthly competitions. For the month of November, students can engage in a world creation competition. Which sounds so fun! Please feel free to encourage your child to check this out! Your child can join us during the 10AM supervised breakout room time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to work on this. Or, if your child is not available at that time, please reach out to Ms. Oswalt to find another time to work on this. This information has been posted in your child’s google classroom as well.

Happy world building!
